Ashish Mohapatra is a motor-control and vehicle-controls specialist with 5+ years taking EV traction drives from concept to production. As Lead Systems Engineer at Chara Technologies, he served control development, calibration and on-vehicle validation for production rare-earth-free PM-SynRM and SynRM drives — including optimized advance-angle tuning for peak power and range optimisation that helped secure customer orders, and a regenerative-braking strategy demonstrated on a magnet-free SynRM drive. With wider machine experience in IPMSM and BLDC from graduate research and independent projects. His expertise spans field-oriented control, controller tuning, sensorless and PSO estimation, and 4-quadrant dynamometer characterisation on TI C2000 with MATLAB/Simulink, including a patent-filed position-sensor offset autotuning method. He holds an M.Tech from IIT Ropar and has served as principal investigator on collaborative research initiatives with IIT Madras, IISc Bangalore and Indo-UK partners. With three patents filed and two IEEE publications, he now advises EV and motor-drive companies as an independent consultant under DQ Drives.
